Island Oasis is Giving Back to Foodservice Families through CORE Partnership
As part of its sustainability commitments, Island Oasis is not only working to minimize its environmental footprint, but also is dedicated to strengthening communities. One of those communities is the food and beverage industry, which has embraced Island Oasis for nearly 40 years.
Island Oasis is returning that support by partnering with Children of Restaurant Employees (CORE) as a bronze level sponsor.
“The foodservice industry is like a family, and lately, it has seen some really challenging times” said Angela George, Island Oasis Senior Brand Manager. “That’s why we’re honored to support the industry and its workers through the incredible CORE organization. Foodservice workers play a vital role in keeping the industry running and we want to make sure we are doing our part to help provide them with a support system.”
CORE provides financial relief when a food and beverage worker, or their child, faces a health crisis, injury, death, or natural disaster. CORE relies on sponsors and donors to raise funds to provide the families with grants.
CORE Partnership by the Numbers
A survey done by the Federal Reserve in 2020 showed when facing a $400 emergency expense, nearly 40% of Americans would struggle to pay their bills. According to CORE, unexpected medical costs and expenses due to a natural disaster are the number one cause of bankruptcy in the United States.
CORE provided nearly $1.5 million dollars to 544 families across the U.S. and Puerto Rico in 2020. To get involved with CORE, or to make a donation, visit coregives.org.
